1877, November 2: His Highness the Aga Khan III, Hazrat Imam Sultan Mohamed Shah was born on Friday November 2, 1877 at "Honeymoon Lodge" in Karachi. His birth was an occasion of immense joy for the family and particularly his grandfather, Hazrat Imam Hassanali Shah, Aga Khan I, who named him "Sultan Mohammad." His mother, Lady Aly Shah, belonged to the Persian Royal family. In later life, she was also bestowed with the honour of the Crown of India by the King-Emperor of the British Empire. 1913, November 2: Mowlana Sultan Mohamed Shah sent a letter to Sayyid Ammer Ali, announcing his resignation from the All India Muslim League Presidentship
1914, November 2: Mowlana Sultan Mohamed Shah sent a message to the Indian Muslims on Turkish entry into the War. It was printed in "the Times", London, 4 November 1914. "Thousands of Muslims are fighting for their sovereigns already and all men must see that Turkey has not gone to war for the cause of Islam or for the defence of her independence. Thus our only duty as Muslims, now, is to remain loyal, faithful, and obedient to our temporal and secular allegiance."
1931, November 2: Mowlana Sultan Mohamed Shah gave an interview to The Daily Sketch of London in which he shared many personal views on spiritual happiness, marriage, poetry, natural landscapes etc. He said, "Poetry is the voice of God speaking through the lips of man" [Interview]
1940, November 2,: History was made in Karachi, and the Aga Khan Gymkhana opened its doors to all Ismaili sports enthusiasts.
1960, November 2: Under the auspices of the Royal Commonwealth Society at Oxford University, delivered a lecture on "Ismaili Community and its Contribution to the Commonwealth." [speech]
1982, November 2: The 7th Aga Khan Architecture Awards Seminar was held in Dakar, Senegal and was opened by the President Abdou Diouf. Speaking for all the participants, in his opening remarks Mowlana Shah Karim said, "We wish to see and understand the shapes that your cities have taken and those which you have rejected. We want to hear the voices of men and women who choose, who invent, who build and who live in your modern cities and your traditional villages.
1990, November 2: Receiving the African Delegation at Aiglemont, France, Mowlana Shah Karim paid tribute to Late Diwan Eboo Pirbhai in those words: “The principle of honorary service, the principle of concern for the weak, the principle of love and affection, of never letting personal differences affect the service that one renders to the jamat. These are principles, which I will always sustain, defend and remind you of them whenever it is necessary. And these are principles that Sir Eboo represented."
1991, November 2: King Juan Carlos of Spain presented Hazar Imam with the Gran Cruz de Merito Civil at a ceremony at Zarzuela Palace in Madrid. This award is one of Spain's most important civil decorations
1998, November 2: Under the title "A Prince And His Prize", Times International writes: "The Aga Khan Award for Architecture acknowledges both the sacred and the secular in the Islamic world"
2000, November 2: Faridabad. Princess Salimah Aga Khan today visited the SOS Village at Faridabad and extended a hand of warmth and support to the residing community. The Princess is on a five day visit to the country during which, she will be visiting the SOS villages in Faridabad, Dharamshala and Gopalpur. At Gopalpur the Princess will be declared as the official Ambassador to the SOS Villages in India by Mr. Helmut Kutin, President-SOS Kinderorf International. 2001, November 2: President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev arrived in Kyrggyzstan to participate in the work of the Bishkek Global Mountain Summit. Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Nikolai Tanaev, writer Chyngyz Aitmatov, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan Muhtar Shahanov and officials of the republic welcomed the head of Kazakhstan at the airport “Manas”. According to the press service of the Kyrgyz Government, the leader of Kazakhstan intends to have dinner with President of the Kyrgyz Republic Askar Akaev and to meet with His Highness Aga Khan.
2002, November 2: KARACHI, Nov 1: Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro has said the progress Aga Khan University is making is unprecedented in the context of the universities in the country. Inaugurating the newly-constructed Nazerali-Walji Building at the AKU on Friday, the governor said his last visit to this campus was on the occasion of Convocation-2000. 2002, November 2: Prince Aga Khan IV arrived in Tajikistan this evening. He was met at Dushanbe airport by Foreign Minister Talbak Nazarov and other officials. Tajik President Emomali Rahmonov met Prince Aga Khan. It was noted that seven years have passed since Aga Khan's first visit to Tajikistan and that cooperation between Tajikistan and Aga Khan's organization had notably developed over that period, covering various fields.
