March 16, 1960: Reached Rangoon on a week's tour of Burma after a short halt at Karachi when
He laid the foundation stone of the Kharadhar Jamat Khana and performed the opening ceremony
of the Ismailia Charitable Trust Flats at Karimabad.
March 24, 1960: On return from Burma, made two-hour stop-over at Karachi. Laid foundation
stone of a huge Jamatkhana at Kharadhar and performed opening ceremony of Charitable Trust
residential quarters at Karimabad.
May 4, 1960: Mowlana Shah Karim gave Didar to the London Jamat.
May 12, 1960: Mowlana Hazar Imam's father Prince Aly Khan, was involved in a fatal car
accident near Paris. Bettina, his constant companion, was also present in the same car.
July 29, 1960: Arrived in Tananarive to attend Malagasy Independence Day Celebration at the
Government's Invitation.
September 20, 1960: Arrived in Karachi on 40-day tour of Pakistan and Goa.
September 21, 1960: Laid foundation stone of Ismailia Youth Service project, Mohamedi Girls'
Academy, Malir in the revered memory of 48th Imam Sultan Mohammed Shah.
September 22, 1960:Handed over the Rs.6 lakh school for refugee children to the Education
Minister of Pakistan. It is known as the "Aga Khan School" situated at Liaquatabad, Karachi.
September 25, 1960: Welcomed by Supreme Council for West Pakistan.
September 26, 1960: Performed opening ceremony of Dr. Alidina Kharadhar
Hospital and Maternity Home. Visited Prince Aga Khan's Boys'/Girls' Secondary
and Nursery Schools of Kharadhar, Pakistan.
September 27, 1960: Spoke on "The Religion of Islam is Logical" at a gathering of the Ismailia
Association, Pakistan, at Karachi. Guest of Honour at Karachi Combined Semi-Military
Institution parade.
September 30, 1960: Laid foundation stone of technical high school at Karachi - sponsored by
Aga Khan III Foundation.
October 1, 1960: Laid foundation stone of the "Al-Ilmu" reading room of the Aga
Khan Students Union, Karachi, and performed the opening ceremony of Prince Aly Khan Boy's
Academy of Ismailia Youth Services.
October 2, 1960: Laid foundation stone of Garden Jamatkhana at Garden Quarter, Karachi.
October 2, 1960: Inaugurated Urdu University of Pakistan at Karachi.
October 2, 1960: Donated Gold Cup to the Karachi Club for holding International Hockey
Tournament at Karachi and awarded medals to the Pakistan hockey team who returned at world
champions from the Olympic Games.
October 2, 1960: Donated Rs. 12,5000 to the Karachi Press Club.
October 3, 1960: Started a one-week 2,000-mile tour of West Pakistan in a special train.
October 5, 1960: Laid foundation stone of High School at Sultanabad.

October 10, 1960: Emphasised in an interview the need for closer economic relationship between
Muslim countries.
October 11, 1960: Left on East Pakistan tour; performed opening ceremony of Karimabad
Jamatkhana, Dacca.
October 14, 1960: Laid foundation stone of Ismailia Co-operative Housing Society at Khulna and
visited Chittagong.
October 15, 1960: Attended finals of Aga Khan Gold Cup Football Tournament at Dacca, and
presented prizes.
October 17, 1960: Donated Rs. 30,000 (biggest financial contribution from an individual) to the
people affected by cyclone in the Noakhali district of East Pakistan.
October 18, 1960: Reached Peshawar and was Chief Guest at public reception.
October 19, 1960: Visited Rawalpindi and Mardan.
October 20-26, 1960: Hazar Imam was the first Imam to visit Hunza in 1400 years. Visited
Hunza, Chitral and Gilgit Agencies.
October 20, 1960: Arrived in Gilgit.
October 26, 1960: Laid foundation stone of Karimabad Colony Scheme No. 2, Karachi.
October 27, 1960: Hazar Imam was conferred the honour of "Grand Cross of the Order of Prince
Henry" by the Portuguese Government.
October 29, 1960: Returned to Karachi and left for London. "Islam and Work" was the message Mowlana Hazar Imam gave to the nation of Pakistan.
November 2, 1960: Under the auspices of the Royal Commonwealth Society at
Oxford University, delivered a lecture on "Ismaili Community and its Contribution to the
Commonwealth."
November 1960: Visited Goa.
