Yuschenko receives the Quadriga award

Kyiv, October 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has been presented with the Quadriga award for the promotion of democracy in Ukraine and in the world.

His Highness Prince Aga Karim Khan IV, last year's recipient of this award, presented the Quadriga award to the Ukrainian president.

The Ukrainian president was honored with the award for paving the way for Ukraine to join the democratic states of Europe during the Orange Revolution, according to a letter by Werkstatt Deutschland Foundation's co-chairman Lothar de Maiziere.

The Quadriga award is bestowed every year on October 3 in Berlin to four personalities from the political, economic, social and cultural spheres. The name "Quadriga" comes from the ensemble at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.
