SATGUR BHETTYAA KEM JAANNEE-E BY PEER SHAMSH 34

ejee satgur bhettyaa kem jaannee-e, e man parkheene joy
     cha(n)dan kere vaasare, bhaai neem suga(n)dhaa hoy...........1

How does one come to know that he/she has been embraced by the True Guide?
One must reflect upon this in the mind(heart). In the presence of sandlewood,
a lime tree absorbs it's fragrance though it may be bitter outwardly.

[Here the sandlewood stands for the True Guide (the Imaam) and the lime
tree stands for the momin. When a momin comes into contact with the Imaam
he/she is transformed and radiates goodness (good fragrance) and constant joy.
When this happens then the momin is indeed embraced by the Guide.]

ejee jees vanme(n) chandan bhayo, us van vase aapanno peeyu
chaalo sakhee us van jai-e, sukh paame aapanno jeev..........2

In the jungle (Jamaat Khaanaa) where the sandlewood (the True Guide)
is to be found, is indeed the jungle where your Beloved resides. Friends
let's go to that jungle so that our souls may attain peace and happiness.

ejee ham tam manmaa(n)he hoi rahyaa, tame kaa(n)i na lee-o veechaar
ham tam paddade hoi rahyaa, tame bhulee ma jaavo gemaar......3

I and You have been existing in the heart (mind) (always). Do not think about this
(or do not have any doubts about it). (This is not realised because) I and You have
been separated by a curtain (veil), so do not forget about this O ignorant ones.

ejee hamtam preet ba(n)dhaanneeyaa(n), ane hamtam bolyaa bol
     hamtam donu(n) saa(n)hiyaa ek hay
     saa(n)hiyaa hamsu(n) paddadaa khol...........................4

I and You are bound by love, and I and You have given each other a word (promise).
I and You Lord are one, Lord open the curtain (veil) for me
(so that I may have Your Vision).

ejee hamtam geerabh na keejee-e, enne girabhe hoye re vinnaas
hamtam geerabh jo vaaree-e, to poche manddaanee aash.........5

In the context of the relationship between I and You, do not retain any pride.
The one who is proud becomes rotten eventually. If in the context of the
relationship of I and You (murid and mursheed), pride is abandoned,
one attains the hopes of his/her mind (heart).

ejee hamtam raiyann viyaannee-aa, tame bhulee ma jaavo jan
hamtam chaa(n)dunne hoi rahyaa, tame hetesu(n) laavo man.....6

When the relationship between I and You (mureed and the mursheed) is established,
the night (of darkness) is over. Do not forget about this friends. The relationship of
I and You is radiant like the light of the moon, so bring your hearts with love
(when you come to us in Jamaat khaanaa).

ejee hamtam samuddhra beddeeyaa(n), jem laage laher nu(n) pur
hamtam nadeeyaa(n) vahee gayaa, satgur sohdev varse nur......7

The relationship between I and You is like a boat in an ocean,
as it sails rythmically across the waves(an expression of happy and
comfortable relationship between a mureed and a mursheed). Before this,
the relationship between I and You was like the flow of two separate rivers
(with obstacles on the way). The True Guide, the Divine Being (sohdev)
bestows His light in this relationship.

ejee satgur nur pattu(n)taro, e gur paratak dev
     kayaa dai gurku(n) sa(n)toshee-e
     ane kesee keejee-e sev.......................................8

The True Guide and the Light are similar (and the same).
This Guide is the manifest Divinity. What can we give this (Divine) Guide
and obtain satisfaction of giving and how to worship and serve Him
(in a rewarding manner).

ejee sevaa saache mane keejee-e, to ab kuchh deeyaa na jaay
dil deeyaa man nehsu(n), ane adako vaadhe neh................9

If one serves Him with true heart(intentions), then whatever given in
this manner is never gone (wasted). If one gives the heart happily,
his/her affection and love (for the Guide) increases thus.

ejee dil deeyaa tenne sab kuchh deeyaa, ahonis jaago maaraa vir
karodd tetreesasu(n) jai meelo, em boleeyaa shamsh peer.....10

The one who has given his/her heart has indeed given everything.
My brothers remain awake (in knowledge and remembrance) day and night.
Then you will go and meet the thirty three crores of the liberated ones.
This has been said by Peer Shamsh.
