Syrian premier, Ismaelite Muslims leader sign cooperation agreement BBC Monitoring Service - United Kingdom; Nov 11, 2001

Prime Minister Dr Muhammad Mustafa Miru and His Highness Prince Karim Agha Khan, spiritual leader of the Ismaelite Muslims, held a session of talks last night. They reviewed the scope of cooperation between Syria and the Agha Khan foundations and the projects they are implementing in Syria. The prime minister and Prince Agha Khan then signed an agreement within the framework of cooperation between the Syrian government and the Agha Khan network for development. The agreement provides for cooperation in the fields of education, health, culture, planning, construction, rural development, tourism, industry and trade.

The prince left Syria at the conclusion of a nine-day visit. Khalid Ra'd, deputy prime minister for economic affairs, and a number of ministers saw him off at Damascus International Airport.
