Dubai: The Esmaili community in Dubai is marking the 50th anniversary of the accession of its spiritual leader, Agha Khan, to the Esmaili imamate, with a host of events throughout the year. The 20,000-strong community in Dubai will celebrate the anniversary in a series of events and the inauguration of several cultural and educational centres, a representative of the Esmaili community in Dubai told Gulf News. Aziz Merchant, spokesman of the Esmaili community, told Gulf News a new Esmaili centre in Dubai is in its final stages of completion and should be officially launched soon.
