50th Imamat Day of Prince Karim Aga Khan

The 50th Imamat Day of Prince Karim Aga Khan, the spiritual leader and Hazir (present) Imam of the Ismaili Muslim, is being celebrated by Ismailies across the world today.

Prince Karim Aga Khan, the 49th hereditary Imam of the Ismaili Nizari Muslims, assumed the mantle of Imamat on July 11, 1957, at the age of 21, succeeding his grandfather, Sir Sultan Muhammad Shah (Aga Khan III).

This year the Ismailies are also commemorating the golden jubilee celebrations of the Imamat Day. On the occasion, the Prince will address a selected group of Ismaili leaders in Aiglemont, Gouvieux, France, and the address will be relayed in Jamaat Khanas across the world.
