Los Angeles Farman Gist

forwarded as received:

Tuesday April 15,/08, Los Angeles Convention centre

Hazar Imam touched on following topics:
- thanked the California Govt for its welcome and assistance for the Ismailis coming for this Darbar event
- congratulated the volunteers for their magnificent service
- specifically asked outside Jamats to take His blessings to their families and Jamats
- gave blessings for the peace of all Ruhani

1. Darbar is a time of happiness in My life and the life of the Jamat - so smile - it is a time of happiness. I hope you have big smiles all day, smiles of joy.

2. spoke about Islam being misunderstood, asked jamat not to be provoked-- said, don't react.Respond with wisdom and logic but remember that those who don't understand, don't understand - leave them aside, and those who do understand will understand.

3. Economic slow down - jamat should be prudent. don't panic - be prudent in material life. Enter into consortia with other who are in the same industry - this would be beneficial for all - ensure that you enter faily and that you canleave these organisations when you need to without harming those who remain. said,"don't let the house fall down"

4. Goals for Golden Jubilee
- institutions - apply best practices
- eliviate poverty - may take generations
- longevity of life is increasing - ensure the aged can have a dignified lives

5. Don't get into bad social habits - live and practice ethics of Islam, i.e. generosity, sincerity, truthfullness, helping those who need, not only within the jamat but also outside.

6. Take pride in our ethics, these are "our" ethics. Remember to take Tasbhi, (at this point I remember Mowla's hands, gesturing keeping tasbhi in pockets) even if it is for 30 seconds, or 10 seconds. this will bring you happiness and seek from it courage, confidence and wisdom.

7. Education - seek out areas where knowledge is being built - knowledge society from industrialized socitey

Then there was the Abe safa Ceremony, and presentation of gift .and Nazarana.

Then Mowla again addressed the Jamat
1. Thanked for Nazrana both of time and knowledge and of material Nazrana. Why is this important? Democracy is fragile in parts of the world, economic conditions may be bad, natural hazards which causes loss of life and its assets. It is a difficult time in the world and by the end of the Jubilee year, we can use this nazrana to address these issues.

2. After darbar there will be Dandia raas - "I will be with you in My heart and my thoughts"

Then Mowla left the Darbar -- went around the Jamat again, - looked at each of his murid lovingly and showered Khanavadan in the Darbar.

wrote this down, while Mowla was in the lounge with the leaders and the Jamat was asked to be respectful and recite giriyazari. Jamat was very disciplined and patiently waited for the Mukhi saheb to bring back message from Mowla.

will write my feelings later. The only thing that i was a little disappointed was that after the Darbar, there was long break for about 3 hours, and no dandia raas. I wanted to play dandia before leaving L.A. my flight back to To was at 9:00p.m.
