Royal Caribbean’s super-luxurious Harmony of the Seas is now the world’s largest cruise ship. Harmony is massive in every way possible – the length of its deck is 1,187 ft (361 m), which is longer than the Eiffel Tower is high, or the length of three-and-a half football fields end to end. It can accommodate 6,780 guests, has a jaw-dropping height of 230 ft (70 m) and, at 215.5 ft (66 m), it is the widest cruise ship ever built. The ship will embark on its maiden journey from Southampton, England to Rotterdam, The Netherlands on May 22.

Identical Twins Give Birth at the Same Time on the Same Day: 'We Can't Wait for Them to Grow Up Together'

Identical twins Sarah Mariuz and Leah Rodgers have shared everything from clothes to toys over the years, but never did the sisters think they would give birth on the same day – let alone at the exact same time.

The 35-year-old women both welcomed their firstborn children into the world on June 30 at 1:18 a.m. in their respective cities. Rodgers gave birth to Reid Joseph in Denver, Colorado, one hour before her sister's baby, Samantha Lynne, was born in La Jolla, California.

"It's that magical twin connection I suppose," Mariuz tells PEOPLE. "There have just been certain things in our life where things just match up – it's odd."

She adds, "We didn't plan being pregnant at the same time. But our journeys aligned, even giving birth! Twins have a special bond, it's hard to explain."

Newly discovered 'world's oldest man' is 145-years-old but says he's ready to die

Slide show:

http://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/other/new ... ut#image=1

The world's oldest man has been named as an Indonesian who is believed to be a staggering 145-years-old – but who wants to die.

Mbah Gotho has emerged from obscurity with documentation recognised by Indonesian officials revealing he was born on December 31, 1870.

He has outlived all 10 of his siblings as well as his four wives, the last of whom died in 1988.

All of his children have also died, and now he is survived by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

If correct, that makes him significantly older than the verified oldest person in the world ever, a title that belongs to French woman Jeanne Calment, who lived to be 122.

The super-senior citizen from Sragen, Central Java, was recently interviewed by regional reporters, and he said he has been through it all and would not mind passing on.

"What I want is to die," he said. "My grandchildren are all independent."

Suryanto, Mbah’s grandson, said his grandfather has been preparing for his death ever since he was 122, but it never seemed to come.

He said: "The gravestone there was made in 1992. That was 24 years ago."

In addition, Suryanto said Mbah’s family has already prepared a gravesite for him - near his children’s graves.

Staff at the Indonesian records office say they have confirmed Mbah’s birthdate, which is specified on his Indonesian ID card as December 31, 1870.

Whether or not he will ever be listed as the world's oldest man however is open to question, as the paperwork has so far not been independently verified.

If so he will join to others without verifiable records who are purportedly older than Mbah - 171-year-old James Olofintuyi from Nigeria and 163-year-old Dhaqabo Ebba from Ethiopia.

These days, his grandchildren say Mbah mostly sits listening to the radio because his eyesight is too poor to watch television .

For the past three months, he has had to be spoon-fed and bathed as he has become increasingly frail.

When asked what his secret to longevity is, Mbah replied: "The recipe is just patience."

Conjoined twins given slim chance of survival prepare for first day of school

Conjoined twins who were given a slim chance of survival are now preparing for their first week at school.

Rosie and Ruby Formosa, aged four, from Bexleyheath in Kent, were born joined at the abdomen and shared an intestine, meaning they needed an emergency operation to separate them.

Their parents, Angela and Daniel Formosa were told their daughters had a minimal chance of survival when doctors discovered they were conjoined.

But after successful operation at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital (Gosh), the identical twins have grown up healthy and will begin their first year of primary school in September.

Ms Formosa, 35, said the twins were “very excited” to be starting school.

“Four years ago it wasn't in my mind that this would ever happen,” she told the Press Association.

This Is How The World's Longest Tunnel Will Revolutionize Travel In Europe

A record-breaking tunnel through the Swiss Alps, set to change travel in Europe, was inaugurated this week.

The Gotthard base tunnel will enter the record books as the world’s longest railway tunnel, stretching 57km underneath the mountains of Switzerland.

It burrows deeper - 2.3km - than any other rail tunnel.

The railway will take the load of the one million lorries which carry goods across the route each year, helping to reduce air pollution in the region.

Once it opens for commercial service in December after 17 years of construction work, the two-way tunnel will take up to 260 freight trains and 65 passenger trains per day, the Associated Press reported.

A man divorced his wife after seeing her without make-up for the first time

Well, this is pretty much the harshest thing we've ever heard. A man divorced his wife just days after their wedding when he was 'exposed' to her natural, makeup-free face for the first time. He said she "did not look as pretty as before the wedding". The story emerged after a psychologist named Dr Abdul Aziz Asaf told Gulf News he had counselled the 28-year-old woman in question, who was evidently devastated about what had happened.

After 46 years, DNA evidence proves Virginia inmate’s innocence, attorneys say

When Sherman Brown was convicted and imprisoned in the brutal killing of a 4-year-old Virginia boy, the Vietnam War was still raging and Watergate was just a hotel, not a scandal.

Then 22 years old, he maintained his innocence at the time and as each decade faded into the next. Now, after nearly a half-century behind bars, Brown is petitioning Virginia’s Supreme Court, saying DNA collected from newly recovered evidence indicates that he could not have committed the murder.

Justices now will have to weigh whether that genetic evidence is strong enough to warrant overturning his 1970 conviction in Albemarle County, Va.

If Brown, 69, is exonerated, he would be among the longest-serving prisoners to be cleared of a crime in the history of Virginia and the United States. It would be an extraordinary turnabout for a man who was initially sentenced to death before the sentence was reduced to life.

WASHINGTON — Books come in all sizes, but one 15th century Quran was so enormous, it's said that a wheelbarrow was needed to carry it.

Two consecutive pages of this Quran will be on display during the show "The Art of the Qur'an: Treasures from the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts," which opens Saturday at the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery.

The sprawling pages, each measuring 5 feet by 7 feet, have rows of calligraphy standing 8 to 9 inches high. They date from about 1400, and have been on long-term loan with the Smithsonian museum.

Incredible underground city in Turkey that runs 18 storeys deep discovered by local who was renovating his home

Slide show:

http://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/inc ... ut#image=1

These stunning images show the underground 18-storey city discovered by chance by a man renovating his home.

In 1963, a Turkish dad knocked down a wall in his basement, revealing a secret room which led to an underground tunnel that took him to the ancient city of Derinkuyu.

Photos of the preserved city document show 20,000 people - including livestock and entire food supplies - could have lived 85m beneath the earth.

Thought to have been created during the Byzantine era in 780-1180AD, the network of kitchens, stables, churches, tombs, wells, communal rooms and schools was most likely used as a bunker to protect inhabitants from the Arab–Byzantine wars.

During this time, cave-like chapels and Greek inscriptions were added to the ancient city , and about 600 entrances allowed people to come and go.

Heavy stone doors could close Derinkuyu from the inside in order to fend off intruders, and each storey could be shut off individually.

Amazingly, Derinkuyu isn't the only one of its kind - though it's in the running to be one of the largest underground cities.

The hidden community, in the region of Cappadocia, is connected to other subterranean cities by tunnels stretching several miles.

Only about half of Derinkuyu is accessible, but the site has proved to be a popular tourist attraction.

The historical region in Central Anatolia also attracts visitors with its incredible geological, historic, and cultural features, including rock formations and spires known as 'fairy chimneys.

Doctors Remove 6-Foot-Long Tapeworm from Man's Gut

Photo at:
http://www.msn.com/en-ca/health/healtht ... ailsignout

Doctors in India removed a lengthy pork tapeworm from a man's gut, according to a recent report of the man's case.

The tapeworm, which goes by the scientific name Taenia solium, was nearly 2 meters (6.6 feet) long. In fact, it was the longest worm that Dr. Cyriac Philips, a liver specialist at PVS Memorial Hospital in India who treated the man, had ever seen, he said.

The 48-year-old man told the doctors that he had been having abdominal pain for two months before he sought medical attention, according to the brief report of the man's case, published today (Jan. 25) in The New England Journal of Medicine.

The doctors performed a colonoscopy, and found a segment of an undulating worm in the man's colon, Philips told Live Science. [The 10 Most Diabolical and Disgusting Parasites]

In patients with tapeworms, doctors typically find segments of the parasite in the gut, Philips said. But in this case, the piece of the parasite in the man's colon was only a part of the story.

Next, the doctors performed an endoscopy, meaning that they inserted a camera into the man's stomach and the upper part of his small intestine, to explore the upper part of the man's digestive system, according to the report.

They were surprised to find a whole worm curled up in the upper part of the man's small intestine, Philips said.

The doctors were able to remove the worm by pulling it up through the man's mouth, according to the report. The intact tapeworm spanned 1.88 m (6.2 feet), the doctors wrote.

Tapeworms can grow to be longer than 11.5 feet (3.5 m) and live for years in a person's gut, according to the National Library of Medicine (NLM). Because tapeworms usually do not cause symptoms, people may not realize they have an infection, the NLM says. In some cases, however, a tapeworm can cause abdominal pain, according to the NLM.

The whole procedure, which included the endoscopy and the parasite removal, took about an hour and 15 minutes, Philips said. The man was sedated during the procedure, Philips said.

After the tapeworm was removed, the man was given anti-parasitic medications to kill any remains of the tapeworm, according to the report. A month after the tapeworm's removal, the man reported having no additional symptoms, the doctors wrote.

In October, doctors in New York reported seeing an increase in a different type of infection from this same tapeworm, which occurs when a person ingests eggs from the pork tapeworm. These eggs can form cysts throughout the body, including the brain. The lead author of that report, Dr. Amy Spallone, a resident in internal medicine at Stony Brook University Hospital in New York, told Live Science at the time that the prevalence of this particular type of infection in the rest of the U.S. is not well understood.

97-year-old twins leave world as they entered it: together

BARRINGTON, R.I. — Ninety-seven-year-old twins Jean Young Haley and Martha Young Williams left the world as they entered it: together.

The two women died over the weekend in freezing temperatures after both fell and became stranded outside Haley's home following an evening out. Police say they believe Williams fell as she walked to her car Friday evening, and Haley fell as she tried to get inside to call for help.

Williams' daughter, Susan, said Monday that she takes solace in knowing the twins entered and left life together, with one trying to save the other. She said it would have been incredibly hard for either sister to live without the other.

"It's powerful, it's astounding, it's stunning," she said. "And regardless of the pain we're all feeling, at least they're together."

Husband and wife discover they are biological twins after IVF clinic performs routine DNA test

A married couple discovered they were biological twins after getting a routine DNA test at an IVF clinic because they were struggling to conceive naturally.

The couple, who met in college, had attended the clinic in Mississippi in the hope that it would be able to help them have their own child.

But instead the doctor was forced to tell the shocked pair that they were brother and sister.

"During the process we take a DNA sample from both the male and female to get a profile of their genetic backgrounds", the doctor, whose name has been withheld to protect the patients’ identities, told the Mississippi Herald.

“It's just a routine thing and we wouldn't normally check to see if there was a relationship between the two samples, but in this case the lab assistant involved was shocked by the similarity of each profile.”

The doctor said his initial reaction was that they might be first cousins, which he said “happens sometimes” but then he noticed the very close similarities.

He checked the patient file and saw they had the same birthdays listed in the same year – 1984.

He then realised the husband and wife must be biological twins but did not know if they were already aware.

“It was a difficult subject to raise,” he said. “They burst out laughing when I asked them if they were twins.

“The husband said a lot of people remarked on the fact they shared the same birthday and looked similar but they said it was just a funny coincident and they were definitely not related.

The doctor says he continued to insist that the pair were twins and had DNA evidence to back it up, after which the wife "pleaded" with him to admit he was joking.

"I wish that I was, but they had to know the truth," he said.

The couple had met in college and hit it off due to their similar backgrounds – they had both been adopted after their parents had died.

The pair’s biological parents had died in a car crash and, due to a filing error, neither of their adopted families were told they had a twin.

According to the doctor, the husband and wife are now considering their future together but are thought to be exempt from facing criminal charges for incest due to the unusual nature of their case.

8-month-old baby weighing 38 pounds baffles doctors

An 8-month-old baby in India who weighs as much as a healthy 4-year-old has left doctors stumped over what could be causing her rabid appetite. Chahat Kumar, who weighs 38 pounds, was born a healthy baby without any complications, The Sun reported.

When she was around 4 months old, Chahat’s weight began ballooning, and now her parents told Barcroft Media that she cries whenever she is not being fed.

“It’s not our fault,” Suraj, Chahat’s dad, told The Sun. “God gave this condition to her. It’s not in our hands. I feel bad when some people laugh at her for being fat.”

Doctors have been unable to obtain a blood sample from Chahat because her skin is abnormally thick, the news outlet reported. She reportedly is suffering breathing and sleeping problems due to her extreme weight.

“We don’t have enough money for her treatment, but we do our best to make sure she gets well,” Reena, Chahat’s mother, told The Sun.

Giant turtle found on Spanish beach

A two-metre-long turtle has reportedly washed onto a beach in Calella, near Barcelona on the northeast coast of Spain.

The apparently dead leatherback turtle, which reportedly weighs 700kg, was filmed being removed from the beach with a crane.

It is reportedly the second leatherback turtle, or Dermochelys Coriacea,to wash ashore on the Spanish coast in the past month, after fisherman in Vilanova i la Geltrú found a 300-kilogramme dead at the beginning of September.

Sightings of the giant turtles in the Mediterranean are rare, with only ten being spotted in the last 2,000years, biologists told La Vanguardia.

The giant turtles prefer tropical and subtropical waters and are usually found in South America, according to the newspaper.

PereAlzina, a biologist from Arenys de Mar, told the paper “we could have the great surprise of finding a leatherback turtle nest in the Mediterranean".
