Minister Frulla Announces Three Appointments to the Board of Directors of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation

OTTAWA, April 26, 2005 -- Minister of Canadian Heritage and Minister responsible for Status of Women Liza Frulla today announced three appointments to the Board of Directors of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Yasmin Jivraj, of Edmonton, Alberta; K. (Rai) Sahi, of Mississauga, Ontario; and Johanne Brunet, of Montréal, Quebec have been appointed as part-time members.

"The CBC is definitely the beneficiary in having three individuals with such varied and extensive backgrounds join its Board of Directors. I am certain each of them will have much to contribute to the future development of the CBC," said Minister Frulla.

Ms. Jivraj is currently President of Acrodex and has more than 25 years' experience in the area of information technology. In 1988, she co-founded Atlas Systems Group, an information systems and management consulting company. Atlas Systems later merged with CompCanada and, in 2001, became Acrodex. Ms. Jivraj's business portfolio includes Acrodex, Axcend India, Axcend Global Partners, Arcspan, and Khazana.

In 1999, Ms. Jivraj was featured as one of Canada's 100 Women Entrepreneurs by Chatelaine magazine. She volunteers on the Board of Directors of the Edmonton Economic Development Corporation and the Board of Directors of the Aga Khan Foundation Canada. She is also Past Vice-President for the Edmonton Section of the Canadian Information Processing Society.
