July 11th 2007 at Aiglemont, Inauguration ceremony of Golden Jubilee year

Khudavind Mowlana Hazar Imam, Asalaamu al amir ul momineen, al sharif, sahebul zaman ul wal asri, imaminil hazar il mauhjood, wa rametthu ul allahi, wa barakatu
Peace be upon the commander of the faithful, noble descendant of the Prophet, Lord of the age and time, our present living Imam, and Allah's mercy and blessing.

Present today in your Huzur, we are 260 mureeds, but we represent millions upon millions of our brothers and sisters around the world. On this most special, auspicious and happy day, Mowlana Hazar Imam, we are here to submit 2 simple messages from all your Jamats. Mubarak, and Shukran. Mubarak for this Golden Jubile Imamat day, Mubarak for 50 years of your glorious reign. Mubarak for all that you have accomplished for the Jamat, the Ummah, and society a large.

And Shukran, thank you for your love, your insiration, your guidance, your compassion and your protection. Thank you for showing us the way to live a spiritually and materially fulfilling life. Thank you for bringing light in our lives.

Khudavind, on behalf of all the jamati leaders present here, I submit our humble gratitude for your grace and generosity in consenting to receive us here on this momentous day. We come from all corners of the world, and we represent your Jamats of diverse regions, cultures and traditions. All of us before you today have had the immense good fortune to have been granted the opportunity to lead the jamats in our respective areas at some point over the last 50 years. Some leaders have not been able to join us because of age and infirmity. but they have requested that their respect and loyalty be submitted to Khudavind.

This is an occasion that most of us could only have dreamt of. Even as we sit here, we feel unworthy of the grace that has been extended to us. In receiving us, Khudavind has taken every possible measure to ensure our comfort and words fail us in conveying our gratitude for our Imams paternal and maternal care and concern, manifested in this magnificient Darbar pavillion,

Most appropriately, our commemeration of the year that lies ahead, will celebrate the Imam's domain. This domain is not of land and borders. It is a spiritual ground and path that transcending physical dimensions brings us closer to the Almigty.

Hazar Imam, at this time our thoughts and prayers reach out to the many leaders who having served the Jamat and the Imamat in the last 50 years, are no longer in this world. We pray that their souls rest in eternal peace.

Mowlana Hazar Imam I seek permission to welcome the presence amongst us of so many members of the Imam's family today. We are immensely grateful and happy that they have joined us in this historic gathering. We are deeply conscious of their own individual efforts in supporting the Imams work. And on behalf of the Jamat, Khudavind I take this opportunity to formally thank them. Thank you Princes and Princesses for the love that you show to our Imam and for the support and care that you extend.

Khudavind Hazar Imam, we can not even begin to describe the joy and euphoria with which your mureeds around the world are celebrating your Golden Jubilee. We give gratitude and we rejoice for your benevolent leadership as our Imam e Zaman. And we also go back in time and history to celebrate Allah's revelation to your great ancestor our beloved Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his Progeny. We celebrate your illustrious lineage from Hazrat Ali and Bibi Fatima, whose nobility, dignity and valour now rests in you Khudavind. We celebrate the manner in which, following in their foot steps, you have brought glory to Islam, and the Shia Ismaili Tariqa.

Khudavind, your thoughts, words and deeds epitomize the true meaning of religious leadership in Islam which seeks to uphold the values of truth and justice, compassion and generosity, peace and progress, and the development of human society.

Mowlana Hazar Imam, 50 years ago upon ascending to this exalted office, you dedicated your life to the Jamat. Few would have realized then, the import and significance of your promise. Few would have realized the enormity of the changes that were to sweep the world and their massive impact on the jamat. Few would have realized the demands that were to be made on our young Imam in guiding the jamats spiritual and material destiny through what has proved to be one of modern histories most turbulent and volatile periods.

Khudavind, you first guided us in our spiritual life, exhorting us to keep a balance between din and duniya, reminding us that the soul is the only part of us that is eternal. As many around us engage in polemics and dogmatism, your words and deeds stand as a practical demonstration of Islam's ethics of peace, tolerance, compassion, generosity, humility, (??consultaion, forgiveness and above all, Allah's message of one humanity.

There isn't scope this morning Hazar Imam to dwell on the full range of Khudavinds efforts for and impact on the jamat and the societies in which it lives. If I may mention just one example, not only has Hazar Imam raised awareness of the centrality of knowledge for all human endeavor, He has invested in the means for all to acquire knowledge through schools, universities and other institutions of learning, to collate existing knowledge in libraries and archives, and to create new knowledge through research institutions.

This is but one illustration of vision, meticulous planning and delivery, and perhaps most critically, the management of complex inter-relationships. Extrapolating from this one example, a single word comes to mind in understanding the full extent of Khudavinds work and achievements in these 50 years; "unfathomable."

There is scarcely an area of human endeavor in which Mowlana Hazar Imam has not given the lead, not only to the jamat, but also to others. The great institutions that Hazar Imam has established bring benefits to millions in their quality of life, hopes and future aspirations. Others look to you, Hazar Imam, for advice and assistance in resolving their problems, to which you respond with kindness and generosity.

Mowlana Hazar Imam on this special day, may I be permitted to breach the ethic of modesty and to submit on behalf of the entire jamat that we are immensely, immensely proud of Khudavinds work, stature and renown.

We see Kings, Princes, Presidents and Prime Ministers seek your counsel, and we say with pride, "this is our Imam. This is our spiritual father and mother in whose glory we thrive."

Hazar Imam, in all that has been achieved, in all your efforts on our behalf, we remain conscious of the extent of your personal sacrifice. You do not distinguish night from day, and weekend from weekday in devoting all your time, all your effort and energy to secure our lives, our future, our safety and security. You have made the jamats happiness your happiness, and the jamat's difficulties your difficulties. In all humility Khudavind, we submit our gratitude, for all that you endure for our sake.

Later this morning Mowlana Hazar Imam we will be making a humble submission of the Global Jamats initial Golden Jubilee Nazrana of Time and Knowledge as well as material resources. It is our humble hope that even if in small measure, these will suppprt the Imamat's ongoing efforts. We will also seek to submit a token gift and a momento to mark this inaugural Jubilee event.

Khudavind, you make us what we are. Our lives, hearts and souls are illuminated by the light that you spread. In happy or sad times, in good health or in illness, we turn to you our Imam, our protecter, for comfort, solace, and to convey our submission and gratitude. We know that long after we have departed this life, history will record the glory that Mowlana Hazar Imam Shah Karim al-Husseini Aga Khan brought to the Ismaili Tariqa and Islam.

Khudavind, I seek permission to request the Jamat to be upstanding.

Oh Khudavind, Oh Imam e Zaman on this Imamat day the 11th of July 2007, at the auspicious commencement of your Golden Jubilee year, all your jamats around the world submit homage to you and reaffirm their bayah. We stand before you representing all our Ismaili bretheren to make these solemn pledges. Oh Imam e Zaman, we pledge our undeserved spiritual allegiance. Ameen. We pledge our absolute loyalty and we submit to you as our Imam, Pir and Mursheed to lead us along Seerat al Mustaqeem. Ameen. We submit our entire love, devotion and dedication. Ameen. We pledge our obedience, oh bearer of true authority in direct succession from Prohpet Mohammed, Hazrat Ali and Bibi Fatima, peace be upon them, Ameen. We pledge to extend our unreserved and unconditional support to your endeavors for the jamats spiritual and material progress and well being. Ameen. We pledge our total support for your work in the cause of Islam, our faith of peace, love, compassion and human dignity. Ameen. We submit our humble gratitude for your care, protection, guidance and inspiration. Ameen. We pray for the safety, security, good health and long life of all those who are near and dear to you. Ameen. We pray that may we be blessed with your Imamat forever more. Ameen. Oh Imam e Zaman, we beseech that you accept our humble pledges and submissons. Ameen.

Khudavind I beg to submit this scroll in affirmation of our humble pledges
