What is the importance of this verse:

ejee baarmo ratan to baallak rup to bhrahamano chhe aay
tene dukh ma dejore muneevar bhaaee;
keeddee makoddee jaar charaklee pashu maatra te upar rees na keeje jeevtaa maratak hoeeye;
jem deepak upar pata(n)g zapalaaeeye.............................12

"The twelveth Jewel, o believer brother is never to annoy a child who is a smile of Divinity; you should not be angry at ants, or water insects, or any aquatic animals or quadrupeds. You should live as a dead man as a moth upon a burning candle(ever ready to die)."

Why does it talk about a child?

Whats so important about the ants, water insects or aquatic animals/quadrupeds?

You will find several ginans where it is said to protect and treat well the weak, the orphans, he animal etc...

For example in the Budh Avatar of Pir Sadardin, it is said :

57. (Are damned) the pitiless military and financiers
Who make war, who kill
58. Who separate the calf from the cow during suckling period
