Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship- Yusuf Keshavjee selected as a delegate

A Trustee of Aga Khan University, Mr. Yusuf Keshavjee of Nairobi, Kenya, has been selected to participate in the Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship, to be hosted by President Barack Obama on April 26 and 27, 2010 in Washington, D.C.

This initiative was announced by President Obama in a speech that he delivered in Cairo on June 4, 2009, in which he said that this Summit would be held to, “ identify how we can deepen ties between business leaders, foundations and social entrepreneurs in the United States and Muslim communities around the world.”

The goal of the Summit is to promote entrepreneurship and innovation in Muslim-majority countries and communities around the world.

While celebrating the work of many great Muslim entrepreneurs, the Summit will provide a platform for developing partnerships that will lead to innovative solutions and support for entrepreneurial initiatives worldwide.

Yusuf is among four Kenyan delegates selected to participate in the Summit, based on his leadership role as a Kenyan entrepreneur.

He was first included in a list of candidates that USAID had invited AKDN to propose from the Muslim population in Kenya, for a round table discussion with the US Ambassador in Kenya late last year. Thereafter, he was selected for the Summit.
