lets take alcoholism
it is genetic

but if the person never ever tastes alcohol will there ever be a problem?

similarly most genetically decided issues can been seen with the eye of obedience to the farmans of the Imame Zaman

Interesting point Shamsu. What happens to those who are born in a family of alcoholism because one or both parent(s) is alcoholic? If the child(ren) also face alcoholism issue, then I wonder about a statement made by Al-waez Abu Aly (paraphrasing here): God doesn't put the weight of punishment on the family (i.e. wife, kids, etc) if the father is the sinner. In other words kids would not be paying the price of sin from their father's mistakes. However, if father is a Farman-bardari momin (i.e.), then his entire family enjoys the blessings.

So, if alcoholism is genetic, and a child is born in that family, and that child themselves becomes alcoholic, I wonder if this situation is due to the law of Karma.

Your thoughts?

The law of Karma is so clearly supported by the Quran.

In the Quran Allah has said that there is no suffering in which man himself does not have a hand.

Now, we see people suffer from the day they are born, Since the Quran is the truth they must have committed some sin in their previous life wherever it was, on earth or some other living planet.

If a person is born to an alcoholic father then the suffering he/she is exposed to must be associated with actions that occured prior to their birth. The same thing for a child born to a Haqiqati.

More later

It is not always true that a devil begets a devil. Sometimes being born to a devil can turn you against devilishness seing and witnessing the consequences of it first hand.

For example Pahelaj's father was Harna Kans the devil(daint) who harassed many momins and prevented them from worshipping. Pahelaj endured many tribulations inflicted upon him by his own father and continued to spread the word of "Narsi" - the Avatar.

Pahelaj went on to become a great soul, the master of 5 crores.

Shamshu,

If people suffer because of their sins of previous life, then whats the use of such suffering when they dont remember anything. I mean how come they are punished for something they dont remeber doing

I dont beleive in rebirths and i just beleive that we are given one life and whatever we do in this life, our soul will get reward/punishment for that after death.

We are all born knowing very little, then we learn things, gradually we grow up and learn more complex things. The ability to remember past experiences is another one of those complex things. Just because we have not learned this doesn't mean it is not possible or untrue.

Now lets look at a person who is living a decent life. If he finds out that he was contract killer in his previous, life do you think he will be able to live his life in the same manner as before
OR
That he was gay in his previous life.

What is more important. The previous life or the life hereafter.
It is the current life which is the most important.
What ever has passed cannot be changed and the future is being created as we speak.
