Ginan: Ya Allah Re Tamne Srevu(n)

Post by Saima »

Ya-Ali-Madad:

I heard the Ginan Ya Allah Re Tamne Srevu(n) for the first time in Jamat Khana yesterday, and absolutely loved it, despite the fact I didn't understand more than half the Ginan. Does anyone by chance have the meaning to this Ginan? It talks about "Maati" (sand) and "Paani" (water) by Pir Sadrudin. The Ginan section under ismaili.net only has the sound version, not the meaning. If anyone can get me the meaning, I would really appreciate it!

Thanks-
Saima

Ya Allahre bhaiji ud gaya hans padi rahl mati,
Mustak padi sir bhari. 3

3. 0 brother! The soul flew away and the dust was left behind. A heavy load came on the head.

Ya Allahre bhaiji achha achha nlr, nlr mangay kar,
Kaya ratan e pakharo. 4

4. 0 brother! Send for clean water and bathe this gem-like valuable body.

Ya Allahre bhayiji jhina jhlna kapda, kapda mangay kar,
Kaya vastar e odhayo. 5

5. 0 brother! Send for fine cloth and cover the body with
this garment (shroud).

Ya Allahre bhaiji doe milo doe milo, milo mere bhaiji,
Milkar manjli e uthavo. 6

6. 0 my brother! Let two brothers meet and jointly lift up
the bedstead.

Ya Allahre bhaiji char paie char bhaf, char bhai apne,
Le jao jangal e minjar. 7

7. 0 brother! Let four brothers lift up the bedstead with
its four legs and carry it to the forest.

Ya Allahre bhaiji paheli mejal paheli mejal,
Milo mere bhaiji,
Paheli so nimaz e gujaro, 8

8. 0 my brother! Gather at the first stage and offer the
(funeral) prayer.

Ya Allahre bhaiji duji mejal duji mejal,
Milo mere bhaiji,
Lai rakho gor e kinare. 9

9. 0 my brother! Gather at the second stage and keep the bedstead at the edge of the grave.

Ya Allahre bhaiji gor khodiyo, gor khodiyo mere bhai,
Aya banda e dosari. 10

10. 0 my brother! Dig the grave, dig the grave, this sinful man has come

Ya Allahre bhaiji ambar ne dhartl, dharti vichhaye kar,
Te vich rakho mere bhai. 11

11.0 brother! The sky above and the earth below, level the land and place him in it.

Ya Allahre bhaiji latia re gutia, latia gutia de kar,

12. 0 brother! The mud took a strange shape when leveled with the feet.

Ya Allahre bhaiji kiska mandap kiski medlya,

13. 0 brother! To whom do these canopies and these mansions belong? Whose kingdom is this and whose court is this?

Ya Allahre bhaiji tame varo tame varo, jao ghar apne,
Hamku to jangal rukhsun yari. 14

14. 0 brother! Go back, go back, return to your home. We have made friends with the trees of the forest.

Ya Allahre bhaiji bhane Pir Sadardm,
Suno gatiuii momano,
Gur mukhe dye vasat e piyarl..15

15. 0 brother! Pir Sadardin (r.a.) says: listen o Jamat of

spiritual master.

Thank you, kmaherali! Thank you very much!

Also, one more question - You referrenced the book compiled by Zarina/Kamalludin. Would you know by any chance where I can find the book? I don't think the Jamat Khana library has it, but I could check. Or is this only for limited distribution?
