Student Mukhi/Kamdiashaheb

Ya Ali Madad

Sorry for the spelling erros! My question on this forum was this, when new members of the jamat are appointed to positions such as student mukhi, etc. why are their names mentioned. Why can't they take their spots without having their names called out and having the ceremony and exchnage of office (is this some kind of tradition?) Also, when was the concept of student majalis mukhi, etc. started?

Students majlis started when Ismaili kids started pretending they were Mukhi/Kamadia and Mukhiyani/Kamadiani Sahebas. They were pretending this in their own homes. They were giving out wara's to their parents and siblings. Then one day, someone from that group sent an email to Aiglemont and that's where it all began. This was long, long time ago...Very long, long time ago.

A students majlis was established in 1937 on the farman of the Holy Imam, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, for the training of the young children. This majlis was held separately, not with the guth-jamat, under the supervision of the religious section of our Education Department. Later, the Ismailia Association and then Ismaili Tariqah and Religious Education Board took it over it's control.
