Ginans pertaining to wordly attachments

Post by searcher »

YAM!

I am looking for Ginanic references in terms of illusion of worldly attachments and how these can hinder the soul from being released from the body easily. Also, I am looking for references from Ginans and Farmans about how the physical relationships of this world have no meaning for the soul and they are for this world only.

YAM,

Ginans are replete with allusions to the temporal and illusionary nature of the world and it's relationships. For example Ginan "TUM CHET MAN MERAA" by Imam Begum states:

ejee tum chet man meraa, jugmaa(n)he kon teraa
mat khaa-o jutthaa feraa, guru kahe te pukaar
tum chet man meraa.

Beware o my heart(soul), who in this world is yours? Do not experience false cycles(of rebirths), so warns the Guide.
Beware o my heart(soul).

ejee jugmaa(n)he jo tu(n) aayaa, tuje meetthee laagee maayaa
ka(n)chan sareekhee kaayaa, so kyu(n) hovegee ugaar
tum chet man meraa...........................................1

You have come to this world and have found this illusory existence very sweet(pleasant). Your body which is as precious as gold to you, how will it be redeemed(saved)( at the time of death)?
Beware o my heart(soul).

ejee kaayaa maayaa sarave jutthee, jesee vaayukee mutthee
jyu(n) paanneekaa parpottaa, futtataa na laage vaar
tum chet man meraa...........................................2

Your body and the illusory existence is all false, like the air in your palm or like a bubble of air in water which does not take too long to burst.
Beware o my heart(soul).

ejee nahee(n) teraa baap maai, nahee teraa ben bhaai
nahee(n) teraa sagaa saa(n)hee, jutthaa hay sa(n)saar
tum chet man meraa...........................................3

Neither your father nor your mother is yours, neither your sister nor your brother is yours. Neither are your relatives and friends. The world is false.
Beware o my heart(soul).

ejee nahee(n) teraa putra dhee-aa, nahee(n) teree tree-aa
nahee(n) teraa sagaa shee-aa, man maa(n)he tu(n) veechaar
tum chet man meraa...........................................4

Neither your son nor your daughter are yours. Neither are your relatives. Think about this in your mind.
Beware o my heart(soul).

ejee jab rab tuje bulaave, koi saath nahee(n) aave
tuje gorme(n) sulaave, sar upar tere bhaar
tum chet man meraa...........................................5

When the Lord calls you(at the time of death), nobody will come along with you. They will lay you in the grave and place a heavy weight (of the earth).

ejee hardam jeekar karanaa, surat neerat un par dharnaa
peershaah kaa jaap japanaa, aatth jaam lenaa naam
tum chet man meraa...........................................6

Upon every breath remember the Lord and focus your attention and love upon Him. Remember the word Peer Shaah(the word of the Lord) and do it over the entire night of eight(three hour time periods).
[Here the night refers to the night of the darkness of ignorance.]

ejee gat maa(n)he meelo neeto neet, paheleeye maano shareeyat
tareekat or hakeekat, maarfat me(n) manku(n) maar
tum chet man meraa...........................................7

Meet in the congregation(of Jamaatkhaanaa) everyday. As a first principle believe in the 'Sharia'(aim, principles and doctrines of faith). Then follow the way or the method(Tariqah) and then internalise the inner mysteries(truths)(Haqiqah) as attained on the Path. Attaining the gnosis(Maarifah, ultimate knowledge and certainty) hence, kill or destroy your (lower)mind including it's desires.

ejee gatmaa(n)he jab aavo, tab hayzindaah bulaavo
fal amraapuree paavo, shaahaa peerkaa deedaar
tum chet man meraa...........................................8

When you enter the congregation, say "Haizindaah". You will then attain the fruits of paradise which is the Vision of the Lord.

ejee daan daso(n)d deeje, neeto neet ameeras peeje
aadheen hoi rahee-e, shaahaa peer ke darbaar
tum chet man meraa...........................................9

Submit the charity of the tithe and drink the holy water(Abe-safaa) OR water of life(Geenaans) everyday. Remain obedient in the gracious gathering.

ejee kahet imaam begum, kalamaa paddo hardam
mat karnaa dujaa gam, to paavegaa deedaar
tum chet man meraa..........................................10

Imaam Begum tells us to recite the "Kalimah"(profession of faith) upon every breath. Do not keep any other understanding. Thereby you will attain the Vision.
Beware o my heart(soul)..
