(During the visit to the Philippines, the Speaker of the Senate, Mr. Protempore Salipada Pendatun held a banquet in honour of His Royal Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan on 23rd November 1963. While proposing a toast to the guest of honour, he praised His Royal Highness’ educational efforts all over the world.

Let me begin by saying how very honoured and happy I am to be with you on this great occasion. I appreciated enormously your kind words and wonderful receptions and hope that when I leave you this afternoon you will be sure that you have one more sincere friend and admirer of the University of Mindanao.

Aga Khan Museum of Islamic Arts in Marawi, Phillipines

The University Museum was opened on June 13, 1962 as  a one-room affair by Dr. Mamitua Saber. Known today as the Aga Khan Museum, it has the biggest Philippine Muslim collection in the country.

It is named after His Royal Highness, Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, whose donation made the construction of the building possible. The Museum was inaugurated on March 23, 1969.
Aga Khan Museum aims to collect and preserve folk art specimens and artifacts of the thirteen Muslim groups and other indigenous minorities of Mindanao, Sulu and Palawan regions;
