Posted November 13th, 2019 by librarian-hdOn 8 November, 2019 His Highness the Aga Khan was joined by His Excellency, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of the Portuguese Republic for the inauguration of the Ismaili Imamat’s donation of a surgical robot system to one of Portugal’s largest medical universities, the Centro Hospitalar Universitario de Lisboa Central. The Minister of Health, Madame Marta Temido, government officials, diplomats, and leaders of the Aga Khan Development Network and the Ismaili Imamat were also in attendance.

On 9 July in Porto, Prince Amyn Aga Khan was awarded the City’s Medal of Honour by the Mayor of the Porto Municipality, Rui Moreira who presided over a ceremony at the Casa do Roseiral, in the Gardens of the Palácio de Cristal.

The medal was presented in honour of "a great patron of the arts." Prince Amyn Aga Khan has a close relationship with several museums, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
