Posted March 18th, 2022 by librarian-hdPrince Rahim arrived in Maputo on Wednesday night for a three-day visit, during which he will meet senior state officials and leaders of the Jamat, and attend the inauguration ceremony of the Aga Khan Academy Maputo.
Prince Rahim’s visit began at the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Welfare for a meeting with Minister Nyeleti Brooke Mondlane. The Minister congratulated Prince Rahim on the inauguration of the Aga Khan Academy Maputo, as she fondly recalled her childhood, when she and her siblings attended Aga Khan schools in neighbouring Tanzania.

Mozambique: Palaeontologists discover dinosaurs for the first time -Project funded by AKF 2020-01-17
Posted January 17th, 2020 by librarian-hdMozambican palaeontologists have discovered and studied dinosaurs for the first time in their country, as part of a cooperation project with the Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, involving Portuguese researchers, they said on Thursday.
“For the first time, Mozambican master students conducted research, which resulted in the publication of their first scientific article,” the Portuguese palaeontologist Ricardo Araújo, of the University of Lisbon’s Higher Technical Institute, told Lusa.

Aga Khan Network has invested US$300 million in Mozambique since 2001
Posted August 10th, 2019 by librarian-hdThe Aga Khan Development Network has invested about US$300 million (€267 million) in socio-economic projects in Mozambique since 2001, the agency’s representative in the country said on Wednesday.
The money has been spent on programmes in the agriculture and food security, health, financial inclusion, education and civil society and tourism sectors, Nazim Ahmad said in Maputo during a reception for notables on the occasion of the “Imamat Day of His Highness the Aga Khan”.

Posted February 25th, 2010 by heritageThe Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED) has purchased 100 per cent of the shares in Maputo's best known hotel, the Polana.
Previously the hotel was 55 percent owned by a foreign consortium headed by the South African Kairos Hotels group, and 45 per cent by Mozambican companies - the national airline, LAM, the private financial investment company, SOCIEF, and the state- owned National Tourism Company, ENT.
The new owners signed the deeds of purchase in Maputo on Wednesday.
