Aga Khan inaugurates Construction of Obstetrics Facility in Kabul 2012-10-20
Posted October 23rd, 2012 by librarian-hdThe Foundation Ceremony of the new Women’s Wing at the French Medical Institute for Children (FMIC) today, marked the start of construction for a new obstetrics and gynaecology wing on the hospital premises that will provide high quality care for mothers and newborns in Afghanistan. The building, which will take 24 months to complete, will offer 52 additional beds for obstetric and gynecologic care and a 14-bed neonatal intensive care unit — the first in Afghanistan.

Minister happy with Aga Khan Arusha campus - 2010-09-27
Posted September 27th, 2010 by heritageThe minister for East African Cooperation, Dr Diodorus Kamala, has expressed government satisfaction on the progress recorded in the construction of the Aga Khan University.
The new university, which will cater for students from across East Africa, is being built at Manyara Estate, a suburb of Arusha City.
Speaking after inspecting the ongoing construction, Dr Kamala said he was pleased that the work has been going on as planned.
He said construction of the university is a demonstration of the growing relations and cooperation among East African Community (EAC) member states.

Obama to Host East AFrican Muslims At 2-Day US Summit - 2010-04-26
Posted April 26th, 2010 by heritageAs part of his effort to improve US relations with Muslims in East Africa and throughout the world, President Barack Obama is hosting an entrepreneurship summit this week designed to encourage grassroots economic development that can lead to political reforms.
Four Kenyans are among more than 200 mostly Muslim delegates from 50 countries invited to the event taking place in Washington on Monday and Tuesday.
Mr Obama is expected to address the summit which, organisers say, will focus on topics such as "fostering a culture of entrepreneurship" and promoting innovation.

Dr Rafique Keshavjee, East Africa head of academic planning, said the university will do this by harnessing ideas from an ongoing five-day conference in Nairobi.
The conference is dubbed “The Worlds of the Indian Ocean — connecting the past to the future.”
The conference is the first in a series that aims at engaging people of the Indian Ocean to study and discuss issues affecting them.

Aga Khan University graduates 180 students - 2009-01-21
Posted January 26th, 2009 by heritageMore than 180 students earned degrees in nursing and medicine Wednesday, when the Aga Khan University (AKU) held its fifth graduation ceremony in Nairobi.
University president Firoz Rasul, urged the group to give back to their home communities.
“Make an impact wherever you go, an impact that is reflective of the personal development, good friends and intellectual growth you gained at AKU.”
