The structure was inaugurated in 2008 by Prince Karim, the Aga Khan, in the presence of senior UAE officials. A 3,000-square-metre public neighbourhood park was also created on parts of the land based on Islamic garden themes. The architecture is an amalgamation of everything that is beautiful in Islam.

Nestled in one of Bur Dubai's older districts is one of the emirate's best kept architectural secrets: the Ismaili Centre of Dubai. It is a 13,000-square-metre structure designed by the Egyptian duo Rami El Dahan and Soheir Farid, who drew inspiration from Cairo's Fatimid mosques.

2008, March 27 - Dubai: Prince Karim Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of the Shiite Ismaili Muslims, yesterday said that the new Ismaili Centre in Dubai is a place for peaceful contemplation. DARJINA is a filly owned by P Zahra who has good record in French Races. Her jockey would be wearing Brown & Green colours. MOURILYAN who was recently sold by The Aga Khan is also racing.

Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali is expected to announce reciprocal measures to turn the Indo-Pakistan thaw into a virtual flood at a public rally in the north-west city of Mansehra, 70km north of Islamabad amid intense speculation he will announce resumption of overflights and more importantly, name an envoy to India.A government official said he would announce 'an important initiative' at the rally.
Pakistan has not yet officially declared reciprocal moves.

THE Aga Khan University Hospital, the leading arm of Pakistani development sector giants, the Aga Khan Development Network, finally made their Middle East move yesterday by establishing a representative office in Dubai which will also act as the liaison and specimen collection centre for UAE patients.The office was inaugurated by Shaikh Mohammed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Director Sharjah Medical District in the presence of AKUH team headed by Dr Shamsh Kassim Lakha, president of university hospital and CEO Nadeem Mustafa Khan.

The Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, is to open its first representative office here on May 4. The new office is located at the Oud Metha Office complex and will be opened by Sheikh Mohammed bin Saqr Al Qassimi, Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Health and Director of the Sharjah Medical District.
Two public health awareness programmes, one each in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, have been organised on May 4 and May 5, in connection with the opening of the office.
