The Master Jury of the Aga Khan Music Awards has announced laureates and finalists for the Awards’ inaugural cycle.
The music awards were established by His Highness the Aga Khan to recognize creativity, promise, and enterprise in music performance.
Laureates will share a $500,000 prize fund, and will also collaborate with the music awards to expand the impact of their work and develop their careers.

In his speech, he commended the Ismaili community and the work of the AKDN and thanked H.H. The Aga Khan. President de Sousa planted an olive tree for the occasion. Incidently, the Jamatkhana extension in Lourenco Marques (now Maputo) in Mozambique was inaugurated in 1968 by Governor General Dr.

The second tranche is intended to fund research that will improve the quality of life mainly in Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa.
