2013, December 9: Karachi, Pakistan - This year’s AKU Convocation in Karachi celebrates the 30th graduating class of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, the 25th graduating class of the Medical College, and the 20th anniversary of the start of the Institute for Educational Development. In addition to the Convocation ceremony and the annual Awards Night ceremony, special events are being organized that include an alumni reunion. To mark these milestones AKU Chancellor is expected to preside at the 2013 Convocation in Karachi.

AKUH to set up a heart and cancer centre in Kenya - 2010-01-20

2010, january 20: The Aga Khan University Hospital plans to set up a heart and cancer centre in Kenya by the end of the year. The centre, the first of its kind in the region, will provide medical treatment for heart ailments and cancers, the university's president, Mr Firoz Rasul, announced on Wednesday. This is only part of their expansion agenda, which Mr Rasul said, is expected to cost more than $700 million (Sh52.5 billion). Besides offering treatment, Mr Rasul said the centre would also train specialists in cardiac diseases and cancer.

5th Graduation ceremony of AKU - 2009-01-21

2009, January 21: Aga Khan University held its 5th Graduation ceremony in Nairobi, Kenya, marking the graduation of 185 students in the fields of Medecine and Nursing. [Photo Heritage] Dr Firoz Rassul, the president of AKU together with the guest of honour, Mr. Joseph G. M. Massaqoi, Director UNESCO warmly congratulated the graduants. AKU is planning to establish a new Faculty of Arts and Sciences in Arusha, Tanzania along with a second Faculty of Health Sciences in Nairobi, Kenya.

Aga Khan Receives an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from the University of Cambridge - 2009-06-12

His Highness the Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of the Shia Ismaili Muslims and founder and chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network, on Friday received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from the University of Cambridge’s Pembroke College. The Aga Khan becomes the first Muslim to receive the distinction in the university’s 800-year history.

Over 113 students on Saturday graduated with degrees and diplomas in Advanced Nursing Studies during the 6th graduation ceremony of Aga Khan University at Serena Hotel, Kampala.

Over 55 students were awarded Bachelors of Science Degrees in Nursing and 58 graduated with Diplomas in General Nursing.

Hazar Imam met with M.I.T. students at Cambridge, Massachusets who were the first graduates of a new two-year post-graduate advanced degree programme in Architecture launched in 1985 under the aegis of the Aga Khan Programme for Islamic Architecture at Harvard and M.I.T. At an informal ceremony, Hazar Imam presented the graduating students with a personal gift and a certificate enrolling as the first members of a newly founded Aga Khan Programme Alumni Association.
