H.H. The Aga Khan arived in Dar es Salam, Tanzania for AKDN work and official givernment meetings. He will be visiting Arusha also where the AKU will have its East African main campus.

The Minister for Education and Vocational Training, Hon. Dr. Shukuru Kawambwa (MP), welcomed His Highness the Aga Khan, the Imam of the Nizari Ismaili Community, upon his arrival at the Julius Nyerere International Airport today in Dar es Salaam. Hon. Kawambwa went on behalf of Hon. Bernard K. Membe (MP), Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, who had previous engagement of a meeting in China. The Nizari Ismaili community is a denomination of Ismailism within Shia Islam and consists of approximately 5-15 million adherents (under 10% of the world's Shia Muslim population). Also present at the airport was Amin Kurji who is the Country Representative of the Aga Khan Development Network.
