Prince Aga Khan to take part in laying of the foundation stone of University of Central Asia in Naryn - 2004-07-07

Spiritual leader of Ismailits Prince Aga Khan is taking part in laying of the foundation stone of University of Central Asia. After the ceremony in Tadjik city of Horog, where the leading University will locate the Prince will arrive in Kyrgyzstan on July 7. The first stone of the branch of this University also will be laid with the participation of President Askar Akayev in Naryn town.This private, noncommercial high society University will serve the region with its 25 million people. 15 million $ were allocated from the fund of Aga-Khan Development Organization for construction of the University building. This educational establishment will prepare specialists on health care, agriculture, education, to work in mountainous regions.
Documents on forming of the University were signed by Prince Aga Khan, Presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in 2000. The place of head University in the center of Gorno-Badahshan oblast of Tajikistan ? Horog city is choosed not occasionly: the most of population here are Ismailits. Muslims from Shii Imama Ismaili sect unite their followers in 25 countries of Asia, Africa, Europe and North America.
