INTERNATIONAL FRESHWATER FORUM IN DUSHANBE OPENING TOMORROW - AGA KHAN AT THE INTERNATIONAL FRESH WATER FORUM - 2003-08-29

International Freshwater Forum will open tomorrow, August 30, at the 'Kokhi Borbad' Complex in Dushanbe with speech of welcome by Tajik President Emomali Rahmonov.
As Asia-Plus was told at the Forum's press center the forum's program includes discussion of results of achievements and global prospects of the Millenium Development Goals and the World's Sustainable Development Summit, papers on interconnection between water and poverty, results of the Third World's Water Forum, expansion of international cooperation on management of water resources and other issues.

Besides participation in work of plenary sessions, during three days delegates will work in the following sections: 'Management of Water Resources and International Cooperation', 'Water and Health', 'Water-saving Technologies and Productivity of Water in Agriculture', 'Exchange of Information for Strengthening Water Partnership', 'Participation of Public in Drawing up and Implementation of Programs for Aral Seas Problems'. In addition to these meetings, attendant events such as excursions to the Norak hydroelectric power station, Tajik Aluminum Plant in Tursunzoda, Hissar Fortress, visiting museums in Dushanbe, opening of 'World of Water' exhibition as well as concerts are also scheduled to be held. Three news conference are supposed to be held for journalists on August 30 and September 1. We would recall that more than 2000 delegates from various countries and international organizations are expected to participate in the Forum's work
