Hazar Imam was conferred with an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD) by McMaster University at Hamilton Place in Hamilton, Ontario in recognition of his leadership in the advancement of health and education in the world. (speech). In a tribute to Hazar Imam, the President of the University Mr. Alvin Lee said, 'In that Islamic tradition, which treasures education, rest the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims and their religious leader, His Highness the Aga Khan.' Hazar Imam, in His convocation address, discussed the issues of ethics and standards in Science. 'Nations cannot assign these issues to a priesthood of science; they require the resources of the human spirit as well as the mind.'
