The Aga Khan's Tahiyra (Ire) (Siyouni {Fr}) returned to re-establish her dominance at The Curragh on Sunday, providing Dermot Weld with a sixth G1 Tattersalls Irish 1000 Guineas and completing a weekend Classic double for her sire in the process.

The Aga Khan's daughter, Princess Zara, was in attendance to witness Tahiyra secure a commanding success. Her brown and green silks were also carried by the fourth, Tarawa (Ire) (Shamardal), who supplied Weld with a one-four in the race.

The Group I Coronation Stakes (1m) for three year-old fillies delivered another Group I winner at the meeting for champion French stallion Siyouni with his star filly Tahiyra backing up the form of her last start win in the Irish 1000 Guineas.

A homebred for the Aga Khan trained by Dermot Weld, Tahiyra was ridden by Chris Hayes and won by a length over Kingman filly Remarquee with third place going to another Kingman filly Sounds of Heaven, part-owned by her Australian breeder John Camilleri.

Princess Zahra is on a six-day visit to Kenya to attend the global convocation ceremony of the Aga Khan University, and to visit a number of AKDN projects. The current longest-serving member of AKU’s Board of Trustees, she will speak at the ceremony on behalf of AKU’s Chancellor, Mawlana Hazar Imam, and its Board. More than 730 students across four countries will graduate this year.

Princess Zahra visited the Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa on the occasion of its 20th anniversary

At an elegant ceremony this morning on the coast of Kenya, Princess Zahra joined students, staff, and guests to celebrate the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa’s 20th anniversary.

Established in 2003, the school was inaugurated by Mawlana Hazar Imam and the former president of Kenya, the late Mwai Kibaki. It is the first in an integrated, global network of residential schools known as the Aga Khan Academies, with other campuses located in Hyderabad, India; Maputo, Mozambique; and Dhaka, Bangladesh.
