2 Muhammad b. Mâlik al-Yamâni, in his book Kashf asrâ- ri'l-Batiniyya (p. 22) calls him al-Hasan b. Zâdh'ân, a descendant of Muslim b. 'Aqil b. Abi Talib. Qâdî Nu'mân, in his Iftitàhu'd-da'wa, tells that Ibn Hawshab was a Shi'ite before he met with the Ismaili Imam who commissioned him to go to the Yaman for propaganda.
3 Several eminent Ismaili da'îs visited that town. We may mention Muhammad b. al-Fadl ad-Dâ'î and as-Sulayhi who laid foundations to the Sulayhid da'wat in the Yaman.
